The goal of Environmental Health Services is to prevent the transmission of disease through inspection, education and regulation.

Services provided are:

• Food establishment licensing and inspections
• Temporary food stand inspections (festivals)
• Food Service Sanitation Certification and Refresher Courses
• Plan reviews and consultations for new food service facilities and change of
ownership
• Food complaint or illness investigation
• Smoke-free restaurant recognition program
• Private, semi-private and non-community water well permitting and comprehensive
inspections
• Water well sealing inspections
• Water sampling and well inspection
• Registration for closed loop well contractors and permitting of geothermal (closed-
loop wells)
• Private sewage disposal system permitting and inspections
• Pumper truck and septage disposal site inspections
• Contractor registration for private sewage disposal system installers and pumpers
• Real estate evaluations for water wells and private sewage disposal systems
• Subdivision plat reviews
• Tanning salon inspections
• Public health-related nuisance complaints
• West Nile surveillance: including, but not limited to collections of dead birds and
mosquitoes for testing
• Private sewage consultation on and off site
